When a family member is related by marriage, he or she is an in-law. The term in-law is used for a partner's immediate family members — mother, father, son, daughter, sister, brother. However, in-law is not used for uncle, aunt and cousin relations.
当一个人由于姻亲关系才成为一个家庭的一员时,他/她就是一个"in-law"。"in-law";这个词可以用于伴侣的直系家庭成员的称呼前:妈妈、爸爸、儿子、女儿、姐妹、兄弟。然而"in-law"这个词不会用在叔伯(舅舅)、姨妈(姑姑、婶婶、伯母)和表(堂)兄弟姐妹这种关系中。
